Dental services

We provide all aspects of dental care including:

Hygiene Therapy

Hygiene Therapy is important not just for your dental health, but for your general health as well. Recent research has shown there is an association between poor dental health and certain systemic diseases such as heart disease, Alzheimers and diabetes.

Patients with diseased gums release higher levels of bacterial components into the bloodstream where they can travel to other organs in the body.

Bridges

Dental Bridges are used where there are fewer teeth to replace, or when the missing teeth are only on one side of the mouth. Bridges are usually made of a precious metal base, with porcelain placed over the metal to match the shade and shape of the teeth beside the gap.

Crowns

Crowns can be the solution to various dental issues that cannot be remedied by fillings. When a tooth is badly decayed it isn’t strong enough to hold a filling without cracking and a crown can help save the remaining tooth.

A crown fits over the remaining part of a prepared tooth to strengthen and preserve it.

Dentures

Dentures (also known as false teeth), are prosthetic devices worn over the gums to replace missing natural teeth. They are normally removable and are usually made from lifelike resin teeth bonded to an acrylic or chrome base. Dentures improve chewing ability, speech and provide support for facial muscles filling out your face and improving confidence.

White Fillings

White fillings is the process of bonding a material called composite to your teeth. They can be used in any area of the mouth, and blend in with your teeth so that they look invisible.

Clean white teeth can work wonders for your smile and increase your self-confidence. If your teeth are damaged then white fillings can create the same effect.

Cosmetic Dentistry & Whitening

Cosmetic dentistry is generally used to refer to any dental work that improves the appearance of teeth, gums and/or bite. It primarily focuses on improvement in dental aesthetics in colour, position, shape, size, alignment and overall smile appearance.

Teeth can stain and discolour for various reasons – drinking tea, coffee and red wine, smoking, or even eating certain types of foods.

It is almost impossible to have a lifestyle that will not stain your teeth but fortunately, it is possible for us to help remove these stains and brighten your teeth in a matter of weeks.

Implants

Dental implants have a very high success rate and they look and feel just like normal teeth, which means no one can tell that you have them! Durability is good too, with implants still functioning well after 10 years.

If you are wondering if you might benefit from dental implants, come and see us for a no-obligation consultation about whether they might be a suitable treatment for you.

Root Canal Therapy

Roots can become infected in a number of ways, and if the nerve in a tooth is damaged due to decay or injury, the tooth can become infected and cause pain. A root filling, also known as Endodontics, treats the damaged tooth by cleaning out the bacteria in the roots and replacing part of the tooth with a filling.

A tooth consists of a crown which is the part you can see and a root system with nerves that extend into the jaw bone and hold the tooth in position.

Bite Splints / Mouthguards

Did you know that sport and recreational activities are also the most frequent cause of dental injuries?

Mouthguards bought over the counter provide limited protection and are often uncomfortable and regularly impede our breathing and speech.

A custom fitted mouthguard provides the maximum level of protection and comfort, minimising movement and restriction to breathing as you exercise.

Examinations & X-Rays

We do routine dental examinations including x-rays.

This involves assessing the soft tissues in and around the mouth, as well as checking all the teeth with a mirror and dental probe. X-rays are often used to “see” what is happening between the teeth or around the ends of the teeth.

Regular dental examinations are recommended to maintain optimal oral health and can save you money by detecting problems at an early stage.

Fissure Sealants

Fissure sealants are a safe and painless way of protecting your teeth from tooth decay. It is a plastic coating which covers the chewing surfaces of the back adult teeth. The sealant forms a hard shield that keeps food and bacteria from getting into the tiny grooves in the teeth.

Oral Surgery

We can provide various forms of oral surgery or refer you to a specialist.

For those patients who do not have health insurance, routine extractions are offered at a non-specialist rate but carried out in a specialist setting by a qualified Dental Surgeon.
